City University or CU is a private university in Bangladesh. It was established in 2002. City University is the
top-ranking government-approved private university of Bangladesh. The
university, where the language of instruction is English, offers
undergraduate and master's degrees in the fields of Business
Administration, Computer Science, Textile Engineering, Law, English,
etc. This university is going to start the Department of Electrical
& Electronic Engineering and Department of Pharmacy in 2012. It also
offers courses for general and continuing education.
Zillur Rahman, President of Bangladesh, is the chancellor. Professor
Dr. NRM Borhan Uddin is vice chancellor. The school has sufficient full-
and part-time faculty members, all of whom, as a requirement, possess
postgraduate qualifications from abroad: most of them from the United
States, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada and Russia.
City University started its own campus from spring semester 2011 at
the place adjacent to Ashulia Model Town and BRAC University, Ashulia,
Savar. The permanent campus of City University was inaugurated by the
honorable minister of the Ministry of Education Nurul Islam Nahid on 29
September 2011. This place is a 40-minute drive from the main city. The
main campus has been designed by an architect of BUET, featuring modern
facilities and amenities. This permanent campus giving the facility of
play grounds, cafeteria, gymnasium, dormitories for male and female
students and teachers.
